
Małgorzata Kołodziejczak graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw in 1980. From the beginning of her professional career, she has been associated with the Department of Proctology at the Hospital in Solec in Warsaw. She had the opportunity to study proctology under the supervision of the pioneer of Polish proctology, Dr. Mieczysław Tylicki, and the founder of the first Department of Proctology in Poland, Dr. Maciej Grochowicz, MD. In 1984, she obtained her first degree of specialization, and in 1989, her second degree of specialization in general surgery. In 1996, she obtained her PhD in medical sciences based on her thesis entitled “Clinical Evaluation of Long-Term Results of Surgical Treatment of Anal Fistula.” Her thesis supervisor was Prof. Dr. Krzysztof Bielecki. In 2007, she obtained her habilitation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ireneusz Krasnodębski. The title of her habilitation thesis is “Perinatal Anal Sphincter Damage – A Prospective Study.” Her main research directions and scientific achievements concern the surgical treatment of anal fistulas and the problem of complications associated with these procedures. Małgorzata Kołodziejczak is the author and co-author of 120 Polish and international publications and 62 conference reports, primarily in the field of coloproctology and transrectal ultrasonography. She is the author of a chapter in the book “Proktologia” edited by A. Dziki and K. Bielecki, a monograph on anal abscesses and fistulas entitled “Abscesses and Anal Fistulae,” and co-author of the monograph “Diagnosis and Treatment of Anal Abscesses and Fistulae” (2008). She is also the co-author of the guide for physicians entitled “Diseases of the Anus, Rectum, and Large Intestine.” She lectures on proctologic surgery in general surgery specialization courses and in thematic courses: Colon Surgery, Fundamentals of Surgery for physicians beginning their general surgery specialization, organized by the Medical Center of Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw. She is the author of educational workshops for family physicians entitled “Hemorrhoidal Disease.” Hobbies: long-distance running (marathons), cross-country and downhill skiing, and mountain hiking.
